Rob

Rob fires up Bring the Smoke with over twenty years in front of the grill, mixing seasoned expertise and a creative streak.
By day, he leads businesses in a corporate environment, finetuning strategic plans and diving into analytics, while by night he transforms his outdoor kitchen into a grilling hotspot, catering for the never ending trail of friends and family who come to visit, all of which assure him it’s not just for the food!

Rob loves cooking all of the classic American BBQ staples like ribs and brisket but he is our go to guy for street food. Constantly messing about with flavours, spices, sauces and sides, Rob will have you cooking up a flavoursome storm for those big gatherings at home, Taco Tuesdays will never be the same again!

James

James is one of the hands-on founders of Bring the Smoke — a practical expert with a deep love of fire-cooked food and the gear that makes it happen.
With years of experience as a tradesman and a background in building businesses from the ground up, James brings a no-nonsense approach to every BBQ session.

He’s spent decades working with his hands, designing and fabricating custom setups, and now applies that same attention to detail to the art of live-fire cooking. Whether he’s demonstrating kamado techniques or breaking down the perfect brisket, James combines real-world experience with a passion for teaching.

Known for his calm presence, dry humour, and love of smoky flavours, James makes sure every workshop is as grounded as it is memorable — helping guests cook with confidence and walk away fired up to do it all again.
Ed brings over 15 years of experience in garden retail, with a strong focus on outdoor living, events, and customer experience.
As a former General Manager for a high-performing, multi-site business, he’s led large teams, overseen major site redevelopments, delivered standout customer campaigns — and managed the procurement and integration of stock across sites.

Now, he brings that same energy and organisation to every Bring the Smoke session — running workshops that are slick, story-rich, and full of flavour. A passionate outdoor cook and natural educator, Ed holds a Master’s in Sustainable Development and is a qualified training instructor, blending practical knowledge with a creative flair.

Whether it’s a hands-on BBQ class or a full-blown event, Ed knows how to deliver sessions that are fun, informative, and guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.
